WOW! 16 year old Sahiah ‘Uzi’ Davis was convicted yesterday (Monday) for shooting rival gang member dead April of 2011. ” A young Brooklyn woman, who by age 16 had already earned the nickname “Uzi,” was convicted Monday of shooting a rival gang member dead.

It took the jury a week to find Sahiah (Uzi) Davis guilty of the April 2011 murder of 16-year-old Nathaniel Walcott. Prosecutors described her as a “warrior” in Brownsville’s Wave Gang that has been waging a street war against a crew called the Hood Starz. In this world, if someone doesn’t identify themselves by the correct affiliation, assistant district attorney Marc Fliedner told jurors in Brooklyn Supreme Court, “Their life is valueless. Their breath is valueless. Their future is valueless.”

Davis, 18, named after the Israeli-made submachine gun, was convicted mostly on the testimony of a teenaged girl who witnessed the late night confrontation between the adversaries. Walcott, who was riding a pink bicycle, used the word “choo” to identify himself as Hood Starz while the Wave Gang uses “woo.”
“He screamed out choo and they screamed out woo,” said the teen, whose name is being withheld for her protection. “I heard two gun shots.”

While she testified about seeing Davis holding a gun along with another gangbanger, she didn’t see who fired the fatal bullets, she said. Defense attorney Calvin Simmons harped on that fact, but the jury convicted his client after asking to hear back the eyewitness testimony multiple times.

Davis is facing 25 years to life when she’s sentenced Dec. 18. The baby-faced defendant betrayed little emotion when the verdict was announced.

She stood trial alongside Andre Moore, a fellow wave Gang enforcer who was charged with an unrelated murder, an assault and a robbery. Their fates were tied together based on a conspiracy count.”
