New York Mets Quietly Trying To Take Robinson Cano From Yankees?

New York Post

Yesterday, as we were all glued to the television watching a great game on Monday Night Football, Jay Z was secretly meeting with New York Mets COO Jeff Wilpon and general manager Sandy Alderson as they discuss his client Robinson Cano.

The New York Post is reporting that Cano’s agents wanted the meeting, possibly looking to establish the market for a player looking for approximately around $300 million for his next contract.

Mets do have a problem with payroll however, and may not afford the player. According to ESPN New York, the team’s  2014 payroll is expected to be about $85-90 million.

As of right now, the Yankees seem to be the only team able to afford Cano, with the market establishing slowly for the Roc Nation client.

Yesterday it was reported that Jay Z was going to be heavily involved in the negotiations for Robinson Cano’s next contract.
