Former Spelman Students Respond To Nelly [Video]

Since Nelly’s Interview with Marc Lamont a number of people in the Spelman community have responded to Nelly’s reopened can of warms. Spelman graduate and former student-activist Moya Bailey responded with an online “An Open Letter to Nelly,” and a group of other former students, including Asha Jennings, joined HuffPost Live host Marc Lamont Hill, in a response to the Hip Hop starts accusations.

Jennings Even went on to say:

Our important message was to show the African-American community we shouldn’t have to choose between these issues. They are all equally as important, we can do both. And so we fought, tooth and nail in order to, before I graduated in May of 2004, put on our own bone marrow drive.
