Jay Z To Be Very Involved In Robinson Cano Free Agent Process
The New York Yankees are trying to re-sign their All-Star second baseman Robinson Cano. The second baseman is looking for a near record contract.
In the middle you have Brodie Van Wagenen of CAA, and Jay Z. Roc Nation signed a deal with CAA over the summer which allows the the agency to team up with Jay Z to represent baseball players as they negotiate contracts in Major League Baseball. It helps keep Hov involved since he is not yet an official licensed agent with the sport.
During an interview with MLB Network Radio Van Wagenen confirmed Jay Z’s involvement in the process.
“He’s going to be intimately involved in all areas. That has been true for the last six months. It’s certainly true now. Jay is a very, very successful businessman, who has a keen understanding of value, a keen understanding of brands, and a keen understand of what this player, Robinson Cano, wants to accomplish in his career.”
It has been rumored that Cano is looking for a $300 million contract of 10 years. Cano is 31.
Although the New York Yankees are the only team reported to have interest in Cano despite his ability, it is being rumored that the Texas Rangers are taking a look at the free agent. They currently have three players in Ian Kinsler, Elvis Andrus, and Jurickson Profar that can play second base or short stop, sto that can be an issue.
