Kenyan Mutai Wins Back-To-Back NYC Marathons?!

2013 ING New York City Marathon

“It was the birthday of my manager Gerard,” Mutai said. “Even before I came here, he told me, ‘I want one thing only, a present [from] you, and that present is to win.’ I tell him winning is not easy, to defend your title is not easy. … The weather today, it was not easy.

“I try all what I can, even if I was not believing that I can finish like that. … It says a lot for me to defend my title.’’ – nypost

NYC Marathon Boston doctor runs emotional race?!

T

hank goodness there were no crazies or big storms looming over the highly-heralded NYC Marathon on Sunday, as Kenyan Geoffrey Mutai went on to win (back-to-back) with a time of 2:08.24! Hurricane Sandy forced the cancellation of the event one year ago, and the Boston Marathon bombing put fear into the eyes of the runners and spectators alike! The show goes on! This time the chilly weather and 20 mph wind forces made the course more difficult to set record breaking times on the 26.2 mile trek through the city! In the 2011 Marathon, under perfect conditions, Mutai posted a course record (originally a World record) of 2:05.06! The Kenyans swept the NYC marathon for the third time, as Priscah Jeptoo took the women’s leg with a time of 2:25.07! 50,740 runners signed up for the race including former “Baywatch” babe Pamela Anderson, who completed the race in under six minutes?!
