According to the U.S. News “A shooting at Sparks Middle School near Reno, Nev. Monday morning left two people dead and two boys in critical condition.

Police say the shooting occurred at about 7:15 a.m. local time Monday at the school in Sparks, Nev., a town just east of Reno, when a 12-year-old boy was shot as classes were starting. The school was placed on lockdown and students were initially evacuated to nearby Agnes Risley Elementary School, and then to Sparks High School where their parents were directed to pick them up.

Shortly after the shooting, the Sparks Police Department urged the public to stay away from the middle school and said the suspect had been “neutralized.” Sparks City Manager Shaun Carey told the Reno Gazette-Journal the suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officials have not confirmed how many people in total have been injured, although they said several were shot. Two people, including the alleged shooter, have died, while two male patients, both minors, are in critical condition at the Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.”
