Joe Girardi Returns As New York Yankees Manager

Joe Girardi

The New York Yankees has officially announced that they have re-signed manager Joe Girardi to a four year deal.

This new contract will keep the Yankees skipper in place until the 2017 season. New York failed to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2008 this season after facing many obstacles with injuries from Derek Jeter, Mark Teixiera, Curtis Granderson, Alex Rodriguez and more.

They had won the World Series in 2009, and have reached the playoffs four times in the past six years. The Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals were other teams that were rumored to be courting the former Yankee catcher to join their team.
