Russia Evacuates Embassy in Libya After Attack [Photo]
All staff and family members have been evacuated from the Russian embassy in Libya after gunmen attacked the compound in Libya’s capital, Tripoli. It’s been suggested the incident was a revenge attack following the alleged killing of a Libyan by a Russian citizen. Russia’s diplomatic political ties with Libya will remain as is. No Russian casualties were reported but two Libyans were fatally injured during the attack. The Russian ministry said it had received information that the attackers had been seeking to avenge the killing of an unnamed “Libyan officer” on Tuesday and the stabbing of the man’s mother, who survived.
