Pakistan Quake Death Toll Rises To 356 [Photo]
The death toll from the devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck the southern region of Pakistan on Tuesday has now risen to 365 as rescue workers struggle to reach victims still within the rubble. Further complicating the relief effort have been two rockets that were fired by rebel militants at military helicopters on their way to the quake zone. Both rockets failed to hit the helicopter. Authorities estimate that 21,000 houses have been decimated and the remoteness of the sparsely populated region of southwest situated Balochistan further hinders relief efforts. Thousands of people are now stranded with a lack of drinking water, soaring temperatures with October being the hottest month in Balochistan, and little shelter.
