Bomb Blasts In Markets Across Baghdad Kill 23 People [Photo]
The latest series of bomb attacks on Thursday inside busy markets in the mainly Sunni Muslim districts of Baghdad have left at least 23 people dead. A series of three bombs were positioned across the city of Baghdad, in Saba’a al-Bour—the capital’s northern outskirts and also in the Doura district of southern Baghdad. A great amount of strain between the relationship of Iraq’s communities comes as a result of the neighboring civil war in Syria where Sunni rebels are attempting an insurgency against Syria’s leader backed by Shi’ite Iran. The death toll for this year already nearly reaches 6,000 people, in a sad reversal of the decline in violence after the sectarian bloodbath from 2006-2007.
