Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather To Retire After Four More Bouts?!

“I’ve only got 24 months left,” the 36-year-old Mayweather said after his systematic dismantling of Saul Canelo Alvarez at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

“I can’t say this was my best performance,” Mayweather said. “I’ve still got four fights left with Showtime and CBS.” – nypost

“He’s an up and coming champion against a legendary champion,” Mayweather said. “He has everything he needs to be a legend in the sport. This was just my night.”

“He’s very fast,” Alvarez said. “I didn’t really feel his punches. They weren’t really that strong. But he was scoring points.”

“I had a game plan, but he took me out of it and I didn’t have an answer for it,” Alvarez said. – nypost

The legendary undisputed (45-0) champion Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. made an announcement after he won the majority decision over Canelo “The One” Alvarez on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas! Mayweather will retire after four more fights and his contract with Showtime Boxing is finished?! Mayweather, 36, still works a solid combination on his punches with a strong looping jab, while ghosting most of the punches that come his way! In the Canelo fight, Mayweather won the majority decision on an a controversial draw (114-114) by judge C.J. Ross, judge Dave Moretti had it 116-112 and judge Craig Metcalfe had it 117-111! The NY Post had it 118-110! The crowd of 16,000 were in disbelief with the draw call on Ross’s card?! On the undercard, Philly slugger Danny Garcia (27-0, 16 knockouts) easily won the majority decision 115-111, 114-112, 114-112 over power punching Lucas Matthysse (34-3, 32 knockouts) to reclaim his WBA and WBC junior welterweight title belts! Besides knocking down Matthysse in the 11th round with a massive left hook, Garcia swelled up the entire right side of Matthysse face in the seventh round! Garcia may actually become one of Mayweather’s next contenders?!
