“It was a little bit of a tough situation but at the same time the guys responded and put a run on the board and that was all we needed,’’ said Mariano Rivera, who retired the deflated Orioles in order in the ninth. – nypost

Preview: Yankees @ Red Sox 7:10PM tonight (WWOR)

he NY Yankees were able to keep pace in the Wild Wild-Card Race following a much needed 6-5 win over the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards in Baltimore, MD last night! The Yankees had the game in their hands (ahead 5-2) until David Robertson gave up a straight up three run blast to Danny Valencia (first pitch) in the bottom of the eighth inning! The Yankees then got a present from heaven and ended up scoring on a wild-pitch in the top of the ninth inning! Mariano Rivera AKA Mo closed it out for his 44th save correction sixth win (6-2) of the season! Mo couldn’t get the save because Robertson pitched so horribly he could not be awarded the win! Curtis Granderson and Mark Reynolds each hit home-runs and Vernon Wells delivered on a clutch two RBI single for the Yankees! The Yankees (79-68) remain one game behind the Tampa Bay Rays (79-66) who beat the Boston Red Sox (4-3) last night! The Yankees will take on the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park starting tonight in a must-win series!
