Syria Crisis Has Created 2 Million Refugees [Photo]
The Syrian civil war has created over 2 million displaced people, in addition to another 4 million people who have had to abandon their homes within the borders of Syria. If the conflict continues, an estimated 3.5 million Syrian refugees will have to flee the country according to Antonio Guterres, U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees. The number of refugees makes Syria the country with the highest number of displaced people in the world. With a country of 23 million people, 5 thousand citizens a day leave the country with little more than the clothes on their back. More than 3,500 children in Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq have crossed Syria’s borders unaccompanied or separated from their families which creates new problems of child trafficking and child labor.
