Egypt To Try Ex-President Morsi For Inciting Murder [Photo]
Egypt’s state prosecutor says President Mohammed Morsi will stand trial on charges of inciting the murder of protesters outside of the presidential palace in Cairo last December. Fourteen other members of the Muslim Brotherhood, of whom President Morsi was a leader, will also stand trial on the same charges. Since Morsi’s removal of power, the military-backed interim government has cracked down on Brotherhood supporters that demand Morsi’s reinstatement. The crackdown has further escalated tensions in Egpyt where hundreds of protestors were killed last month when government forces cleared two pro-Morsi camps in Egypt’s capital of Cairo. A date for Morsi’s trial has yet to be announced.
