UK Drafts Syria Crisis UN Resolution [Photo]
The UK is to put a resolution to the UN Security Council later today “authorising necessary measures to protect civilians” in Syria. UK Prime Minister David Cameron has called on the five permanent members of the council to act together saying, “The draft resolution would condemn the “chemical weapons attack by Assad.” UN chemical arms experts will require four days to end their probe into the alleged use of chemical arms and extra time to analyze their findings. However, Russia and China do not appear to be on the same page and have previously vetoed resolutions critical of Syria and may block any future resolution involving military action. The emergency meeting of the UK’s National Security Council will convene at midday local time (11:00 GMT).
