Russia Urges Syria To Cooperate With Chemical Weapons Probe [Photo]
The above picture shows a Syrian mass grave of people rebels claim were killed by a toxic gas attack. Russia has urged Syria’s government to cooperate with U.N. chemical arms experts into the alleged use of chemical weapons that lead to the deaths of as many as 1,200 civilians. Russia has been an instrumental ally to Syrian President Bashar Assad and it’s stance is representative of the extent of national solicitude concerning the allegations of chemical weapons use in Syria.
Disturbing footage released by rebels and activists of the aftermath of the alleged chemical attack show choking and vomiting children and adults writhing in agony. U.S. State Department officials and intelligence agencies met at the White House on Thursday to discuss how to respond to the alleged gas attacks but have not yet taken any deliberate actions. The Syrian civil war reached “a shameful milestone” on Friday when the United Nations told NBC News’ Ann Curry that one million Syrian children had become refugees – 75 per cent of them under the age of 11.
