Fukushima Power Plant Leak Worse Than Suspected [Photo]

The toxic water leak at Japan’s crippled Fukushima power plant has changed from level one on the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale to level three indicating a “serious incident” making it the gravest warning since the 2011 earthquake and tsunami that sent three reactors into meltdown. The Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) is working to maintain the tons of contaminated radioactive water by moving it to vast water containers at the power plant site designed to hold as much as 1,000 tons of water according to TEPCO. In July, TEPCO admitted that radioactive groundwater was leaking into the Pacific Ocean despite a built in barrier.
