Obama Condemns Egypt, Cancels Joint Military Plan [Photo]
After a harrowing few days of political unrest in Egypt, the death toll has topped 600 and counting. The crackdown on supporters of ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi has drawn world wide criticism including President Obama who has most recently canceled a planned joint military operation, Operation Bright Star, in protest over the violence that has rendered thousands injured. The military’s removal of Egypt’s democratically elected Morsi has not drawn immediate support from President Obama who carefully dictated during a speech on Thursday that “America cannot determine the future of Egypt. That’s a task for the Egyptian people.” The U.N. Security Council will meet today to discuss the ordeal for the time being.
