Gun violence in Chicago Leaves 2 Dead, 2 Wounded Overnight
The gun violence in Chicago is undoubtedly getting more and more out of control. A week after the July 4th weekend, which left 12 dead and dozen more injured, and days after State Rep. Monique Davis press conference request to Gov. Patrick Quinn; four more men had been reportedly shot Friday night into early Saturday. Sadly the violence took place the same night as the city’s anti-violence rally which included Rev. Jesse Jackson, Father Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Church and Cleopatra Cowley-Pendleton, mother of Hadiya Pendleton.
According to the Chicago Tribune , around 10:50 p.m., 25-year-old Jeremy Morris was fatally shot when two men approached him while he was sitting in a car and pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting. A few hours later Fernando Sanchez, 25, was gunned down in front of his apartment building while drinking a beer. Sanchez was later pounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital. Two other were reportedly wounded in non-fatal shootings in Old Town and Rogers Park. [Check out full story here].
