Eminem Shocks The World With Details About His Drug Addiction

In the 2013 documentary titled, ”How To Make Money Selling Drugs,” Eminem opens up about his addiction to Vicodin. The Detroit rapper even discloses about the night he nearly died, and how that didn’t stop him from using drugs. The rapper’s struggle with addiction isn’t new news; his previous two albums “Relapse” and “Recovery” deal with the issue as well. But in “How To Make Money,” Eminem details just how bad his addiction became and how he nearly ended up dead.

“Had I had gotten to the hospital about two hours later, I would have died,” Eminem revealed. “My organs were shutting down. …They didn’t think I was gonna make it.”

Surprisingly, this near-death experience wasn’t enough of a wake-up call for him to stop doing drugs.

“My bottom was going to be death, and within a month I had relapsed and shot right back up to the same amount of drugs I was taking.”

“I’m not out there shooting heroin. I’m not putting coke up my nose. I’m not smoking crack,” Eminem says of how he justified his addiction. “You’re struggling with the argument of ‘Do you have a problem, or do you not have a problem? Can you control or can you not? And I literally thought I could control it.”

Explaining how he fell into drugs, he said he was just taking what people were giving him. “They look like a pill, and they’re shaped like something you would take, so you take. Xanax, Valium …all in the same family. F*** it, take it.”

He described his journey, on getting sober, pretty much unbearable. “Coming off of everything, I literally was up for three weeks straight,” he says. “I had to regain motor skills. I to regain talking skills.”

The advice he gives, “So I would say to anybody that it does get better. You know, it just does.”

The rapper finally got his life together but opted not to enter a high-profile rehabilitation program to stay out of the spotlight. His no-holds-barred personal detox was a strenuous process. According to Eminem, he spent nearly three weeks without sleep because of his body’s resistance.

“How To Make Money Selling Drugs” will feature interviews with other rappers including 50 Cent, as well as other celebrity figures such as Woody Harrelson and Russell Simmons.
