Hello Brooklyn Kidd: Nets New Coach Jason Kidd A Good Look!

“I think it’s the best thing to get right into it,” Kidd said during one of several radio interviews he did in his first full day as head coach of the Nets. “I know that a lot of times head coaches don’t coach summer league, but this gives me time to work on different parts of the game of learning to be a coach, but also my philosophy and plays and the defensive stuff that I get to put in as my system. So, I get to see if it works [and] if it doesn’t work, what changes I have to make and go from there.” – nypost

“The biggest thing is you have to be prepared. Players can sense when someone’s not prepared. And you have to communicate. Those are some of the things offhand,” Kidd said Thursday when he was officially presented as the Nets’ choice to succeed P.J. Carlesimo as the 18th coach in the franchise’s NBA history, a first time coach who is inheriting not a rebuilding mess but a playoff unit.

“Some of the things not to do? Time is critical. When they see you’re not starting things on time or you’re not prepared, then things can go south quickly,” Kidd said. – nypost

“The point is that there are people who are born coaches,” Prokhorov said, according to the New York Times. “It is known that Jason Kidd was, in fact, a player-coach on many teams, and he has been training for a long time. He has played under many coaches, and he has always wanted to be a coach.”

“Despite all the NBA’s competitive potential, they lack a little bit of star coaches,” he said. “Of course, we are very glad that now, together with our fans, we can grow up a new star and finally, naturally with the NBA [championship].” – nypost

Jason Kidd’s mom Anne (l.) was shocked that he retired suddenly and feels he will be a great coach.

“I was totally shocked,’’ Anne Kidd said. “He told me he’s retiring and I was like ‘Don’t retire.’ I thought he had a little bit more in him to play.’’

“He’s got a lot of patience, a lot of knowledge and he listens. Those are three important things, so he’ll do fine.’’ – nypost

Lebron Kidd

“I think it’s amazing, honestly,” James said before his Heat scored an impressive 109-93 victory over the Spurs Thursday night. “J-Kidd is unbelievable. He’s one of the best teammates I’ve ever played with, on the ’08 Olympic team. He’s one of the best friends I’ve had on and off the floor. He’s a student of the game.

“His basketball IQ is crazy, and I think it’s going to make an easy transition for him to be a coach. I think it’s a great thing for him.”

“It’s going to be a transition, but he doesn’t know,” James said. “I don’t know. It’s the first time for him. … It was the same with Mark Jackson. He had never patrolled the sidelines before, either, but you see the great work he’s done with Golden State.

“If you play the game and you’re smart, it can make the transition that much easier for you, and … the people you have around you. He’s not inheriting a bad team, he’s inheriting a good team, so that makes the job easier, too. – nypost
