Mets RF Marlon Byrd (top) hit a two-run blast, and pitcher Dillon Gee (bottom) struck out a career-high 12 batters to help lead the NY Mets to the Subway Series sweep over the NY Yankees at Yankee stadium on Thursday night.

”You’re playing as hard as you always do, but you know it’s something special for the fans,” Byrd said. ”We can’t go on the road and let up. We have to keep going hard, like we did here.”

”He (Mets coach Terry Collins) said, `Good job’ for once when I came out of the game,” Gee said. ”It’s hard to put into words. I needed that on so many levels it’s crazy.” – foxsports

MLB: New York Mets at New York Yankees

“For us, it was nice to build some confidence because the Yankees have been playing well. They’re obviously a good team,’’ David Wright said. “To come in here and take all four from them, it should give us some confidence moving forward and hopefully we can use that to springboard us into that Miami trip.

“It’s always fun to win this series, especially for our fans,” David Wright added. “It gives our fans some bragging rights. They get tomorrow at work, to brag a little bit. I’m glad we’re able to give them that. Mets fans come over to support us and they were loud. It was good to hear.’’ – nypost

The Mets destroyed the Yankees 9-4 in the Bronx opener on Wednesday night, and held off the Yankees 3-1 last night to complete the four-game series sweep! Mets’ Dillon Gee pitched the game of his life striking out a career-high 12 batters, while only giving up four hits, one earned run in 7 1/3 innings pitched! Mets’ RF Marlon Byrd scorched a two-run shot into the second deck of Yankee stadium in the second inning! Yankees’ Robinson Cano followed with a blast of his own in the third inning! The METS just gotta play with a lot of heart and pride (like in this series) for the rest of the season! Looking forward for the Bronx Bombers, they will get Tex and Youki very shortly to provide power behind Cano, and are about to embark on the historic Fenway Series (in the Bronx)!
