Yankees Rolling: Kuroda Fights With Ump, Mo Honored At KC Stadium! [Photo]

Kuroda ump argue

“I don’t remember,’’ Kuroda laughed when asked about what he said in English to Diaz.

“I think he was disappointed with the call and upset he gave up the double,’’ Yankees’ catcher Chris Stewart said. “He probably wanted to get the last out and go through eight innings for us. He was upset at the time and a little frustrated.’’

“The quality of my pitches, my slider and splits were not as I imagined,’’ said Kuroda, who has won three of his last four decisions. “In that sense, it was tough.’’ – nypost

Mariano Rivera

Royals general manager Dayton Moore and Hall of Famer George Brett stand with Mariano Rivera in a small ceremony before Sunday’s game. The Royals made a donation “sizable monetary donation to assist in the refurbishing of the church.”

“It’s amazing,” Rivera said. “The fans here have been tremendous. You talk about the Kansas City Royals and the New York Yankees and all the history that we have, it’s a great competitive team.

“We come here to compete. We don’t come here to do anything else but compete. The fans know that. You appreciate that, too. They made me feel like I was from here. It was wonderful. I appreciate it. Thank God for that.”

“To have Mr. Brett next to me, he was the man,” Rivera said. “To be there, giving me that donation for the foundation, it’s wonderful. I always appreciate that.” – mlb

”It’s amazing. He just continues to do it,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. ”Anyone wants to argue he’s not the greatest closer of all time, I don’t know who it is.” – foxsports

iroki Kuroda was on his way to completing an eight-inning gem, when he argued with home plate umpire Laz Diaz about missed call (on a strike) on a 2-0 count that quickly became a bases empty double! Kuroda was ejected, after completing 7 and 2/3 innings of work: giving up six hits, two earned runs while striking out and walking one batter! Kuroda improved his record to (5-2) with a 2.31 ERA! Mo got his 15th save in 15 tries, and Robinson Cano and Vernon Wells (with pink bats for Mothers Day) hit back-to-back homeruns to seal the deal with a 4-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals! The Royals held a small ceremony and honored Mariano Rivera [Video], as it will be last season with the Yankees and last time at KC Kauffman Stadium! Mo and Joba Chamberlain exchanged words at one point during Saturday’s game! The Yankees are on fire and have won their fifth straight improving to the AL EAST BEST record (23-13)!
