he NY Yankees traded cash and a player to be named later to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for third baseman Chris Nelson! Yankees manager Joe Girardi indicated that the Yankees desperately need more right-handed hitters! The Yankees will have to part with Corbin Joseph and moved catcher Francisco Cervelli (fractured wrist) to the 60-day disabled list! Nelson, 27, has been playing on and off for the Rockies for four seasons; he was drafted by the Rockies in the first round of the 2004 MLB Draft! He can play second and third base and of course bats right handed! Nelson played 21 games (started 19 at third) with the Rockies this season dialing up a .242 batting average (16-for-66) with four RBI’s; he was put on assignment on April 28! He is a career .279 hitter!
