“It’s a dream come true to finally hear my name called and to be a Jet is one of the things I’ll carry with me for a lifetime,” said Smith, who the Jets took in the second round of the NFL Draft on Friday.

“It was hard to stomach,” the former West Virginia star said.

“My goal is to be a franchise quarterback,” Smith said. “As of right now, there’s a lot of work to be done.”

“I’m ready to compete, I’m ready to go in there and try to win a starting job,” Smith said last night at Radio City Music Hall. – nypost

he NY Jets got on the gun and selected highly touted quarterback Geno Smith out of West Virginia, as the No. 39 pick of the second round of the NFL Draft 2013 on Friday night! He will instantly be competing with Mark Sanchez for the starting job!The Jets still have Sanchez, David Garrard, who they picked up in March, and Tim Tebow! The Jets went high for the quarterback, who is highly underrated, and should have been picked in the first round! He put record breaking numbers for yards thrown during his career at West Virginia!
