OKC News Flash: All-Star Russell Westbrook Out With Knee Injury?!

Russell Westbrook injury

“We’re not trying to rush him or bring him back ahead of schedule. We want to make sure he’s healthy and his knee is right,” Kevin Durant said. “That’s our only concern with it right now. … We have to come together as a team and worry about the basketball. All he has to worry about is him getting healthy.”

“A lot of people may not like what he brings to our team. But inside, we love what he does,” Durant said. “He’s a different player, a different person, but we love what he brings. It’s unfortunate that he can’t compete at the highest level of basketball, which is the playoffs.” – espn

“Our team as a whole, we’ve got a resilient group of guys, a lot of character within that locker room and a group that enjoys playing together and has been through some adversities over the last several years that they’ve been together. We’d expect them to adjust, come together and have different guys step in and play well collectively,” OKC GM Sam Presti said.

“Once we were able to gather all of the necessary information and everything was accumulated, it was an easy decision for our medical team.” – espn

KC News Flash: Speedy high-scoring All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook was injured in Game 2 of the Playoffs on Wednesday night against the Houston Rockets! Originally the injury did not seem that significant, but it appears that he will need surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee! Westbrook was injured in a hip to knee collision when rookie Patrick Beverley lunged into him attempting a steal! OKC, holds a commanding (2-0) series lead over the Rockets, and Westbrook averaged 24 points and seven assists per game so far in the series! This is devastating news for OKC, who are defending Western Conference champs and were looking to match that this season! I think Beverley looked malice intent (intentional) even in the photo (above) and should be suspended for a couple games for the drop-kick to Westbrook knee! What do you think about it? Will OKC make it far in the Playoffs w/o Westbrook? Will they continue to beat the Rockets in this series alone?
