Unofficial: Melo Gets First Scoring Title!

Melo scoring title

“I think it’s great. It’s a nice individual award, but I know Melo is thinking bigger than the scoring title,” Knicks coach Mike Woodson said after the team’s morning shootaround. “His whole thought process this year has been to try to get to the Finals. It starts Saturday (against Boston).

“But I think it’s a great accomplishment it’s a testament to what he put in last summer, through the Olympic work and getting ready for vet camp, and it’s been a beautiful carryover for this season.” – nydailynews

“I give Kevin a lot of credit,” Brooks said, according to the Oklahoman, “because maybe 10 games ago, if he was really focused on trying to get it four years in a row, he could have got it easily.

“Many times … he was trying to get a triple-double. And when you try to get 10 assists, that means you’re not trying to score.” – espn

The note, which was posted to Durant’s Instagram account on Wednesday morning, said: “SITTING OUT TONIGHT’S GAME, if you disappointed I didn’t try to go for the scoring title, oh well!!”

inally the moment has arrived! Melo will get his first career NBA Scoring Title tonight! The nearest competition, KD or Kevin Durant from OKC indicated on his Instagram today that he will be sitting out for tonight’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks! Melo has also indicated that he will sit as well against the Atlanta Hawks tonight! Melo is averaging 28.7 points per game, while KD is averaging 28.1 ppg with 14 more games played! Even with Melo sitting out, KD would have had to get 70 points in tonight’s game to beat out Melo! KD has won the scoring title the last three consecutive seasons!
