Mavs Owner Offers To Draft Brittney Griner?!

Mark Cuban Griner m

“If she is the best on the board, I will take her,” Cuban said before the Mavs’ Tuesday night game against the Los Angeles Lakers. “I’ve thought about it. I’ve thought about it already. Would I do it? Right now, I’d lean toward yes, just to see if she can do it. You never know unless you give somebody a chance, and it’s not like the likelihood of any late-50s draft pick has a good chance of making it.”

“She’d still have to make the team,” Cuban said. “I’m not going to carry her just to carry her. I don’t think, anyways. But I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to giving her the opportunity.” – espn

avs’ owner Mark Cuban is quite over-the-top and little zany, and last night before the Mavs-Lakers game he offered Baylor Lady Bears’ Brittney Griner a spot on his team in the upcoming NBA Draft?! Although the proposal sounds great, it is unrealistic and I would have to see it to believe it! Griner is 6-foot-8 and probably could bang wit the boys, but the risk would outweigh the gain in the end; a promising career in the WNBA or dragging her feet in the NBA! A No. 1 pick in the WNBA or a No. 50 pick in the NBA? Griner finished her NCAA career after being upset by the Louisville Cardinals in the Sweet 16 a couple of days ago! She finished the outright leader in women’s college basketball history with shots blocked (748), and second in scoring (3,283 points)! Check out details above and read more below…

Ann Meyers Drysdale

Did you know? Ann Meyers Drysdale was the first woman to try out for an NBA team in 1979! She was a UCLA Bruins and Olympics basketball team star and was actually signed by the Indiana Pacers, but didn’t make the team!
