or the first time since 1956 (Brooklyn Dodgers vs. NY Giants), the NY Yankees and NY Mets played simultaneously on Opening Day! The Mets looked Amazin’ while the Yankees looked awful! The Mets dominated the San Diego Padres, 11-2 yesterday, and had all the players clicking! After 10 years on the Mets, third baseman David Wright was introduced as “the Captain” during player introductions! Starting pitcher Jonathon Niese pitched a gem, outfielder Collin Cowgill, recruited from the Oakland Athletics in the off-season, smashed a grand-slam coming out of the seventh inning stretch, and to serve inspiration 31-year old pitcher Scott Rice, who played 14 years in the minor leagues, made his Mets debut to close out the ninth inning!
