“It’s going to get done,’’ said a person familiar with the specifics of the deal.

“There are a lot of I’s and T’s to cross when you finish something,’’ Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said following a 7-6 win over the Rays at Steinbrenner Field. “I am not in position to say anything official at this time.’’

“We haven’t seen him a lot the last two years,’’ Joe Girardi said of Wells, who has been limited to 208 games because of injuries. “I know when he was in our division [with the Blue Jays] he was a very good player, a very good player.’’ – nypost

he NY Yankees appear to be picking up 34-year old right-handed hitter (left-fielder) Vernon Wells from the LA Angels! The Yankees will have to pay a steep price to get him ($13 Million), as he was still owed $42 Million for the next two seasons under his current (former) contract with the Angels! The Yankees can afford him due to the recent Mark Teixeira injury; the Yankees will compensated about $7 Million by Mark Teixeira’s insurance contract with Team USA in the WBC, as he was hurt during the WBC! The Yankees will not have to part with any players in the trade. The Yankees also recently picked up Ben Francisco and Brennan Boesch, and are currently contracted for over $91 Million with injured players!
