Former-Laker Bynum Opts For Season-Ending Surgery?!

Sixers Andrew Bynum

”After many months of rehabilitation and consulting with numerous doctors, Andrew and the doctors treating him determined that this is the best course of action at this point,” general manager Tony DiLeo said Monday night. ”We will continue to monitor and evaluate his status moving forward.”?? – foxsports

The former Laker, who was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in order to recruit Dwight Howard, hasn’t played a lick in a Sixers uniform yet, and now will have arthroscopic surgery on both knees today?! Bynum was traded while he was injured with deep bone bruises in both knees, and now after becoming a unrestricted free-agent after this season may not play (for the Sixers) at all?! He was attempting to come back, and after a 5-on-5 practice session he experienced swelling in his right knee. The doctors and GM suggested that he must get surgery to remove loose bodies in the knees to reduce swelling and pain. He will get arthroscopic surgery by Dr. David Altchek of the Hospital of Special Surgery in New York. Bynum is only 25 years old and had one of his best seasons last year before being traded to the Sixers, including making his first All-Star appearance! Bynum  has two chips with the Lakers in his seven year career there!
