“I gave it everything I had,” Bradley said. “Every ounce I had, I gave.”
“He’s much more powerful than Pacquiao,” Bradley said. “He hits harder, and has shorter punches. He’s a great puncher, and I take my hat off to him.”- espn
Timothy Bradley Jr. got rocked in the first and final round (by Ruslan Provodnikov), hanging to the ropes, and finally got knocked down just before the bell in the final round on Saturday night! In the first round, Bradley got (obviously) knocked down, but the referee scored it accidental knockdown?! It was reminiscent of “Rocky” when Rocky Balboa knocks down Apollo Creed in the first round, and “Rocky II” when Rocky knocks Apollo to the ground as the final bell sounds and gets back up before him! This fight went the distance, Provodnikov had more power, Bradley more volume and technique, they both fought with tremendous heart, the only difference between this fight and “Rocky II” was that Bradley got back up after the final knock down! Freddie Roach trained Provodnikov; he was a no-name boxer until Saturday night, and now will be compared to the great Rocky Balboa! Bradley won the unanimous decision: 114-113, 114-113, 115-112, and the AP scored it 114-113! Bradley improved to a perfect (30-0), held onto to his WBO welterweight belt, and showed disbelievers (after winning the controversial decision over Manny Pacquiao) that he is for real and can go the distance against a solid power punching contender! Provodnikov record dropped to (22-2), but I smell a strong possibility of a rematch after the Rocky-esque fight last night!
