PBA Bans Ex-Knick Balkman After Choking Incident?!
“I also took into consideration Balkman’s evident disregard for local and the host country’s sensibilities highlighted by his choking act on-court in full public view of his own teammate who was trying to pacify him,” PBA commissioner Chito Salud said.
“I do encourage passion for the game but I also want to firmly instil a culture of accountability among our players. If one does something that violates the rules and the norms of sportsmanship and decent behavior, he will be made accountable.” – nypost
No, No, No not the Professional Bowling Association lol… the Philippine Basketball Association banned Ex-Knick Renaldo Balkman and slapped him with a 250K Philippine pesos ($6,100 US Dollars) fine over the recent choking incident! The PBA released a statement on Monday; the length of the ban was not indicated! Balkman was playing for the Petron Blaze Boosters against the Philippines-based Alaska Aces when he started going on a rampage and ended up choking his own teammate, Arwind Santos! It was not Balkman’s first International incident; a while back when he was playing for his native Puerto Rico against Venezuela in an America-FIBA game he incited a headbutt on another player (video below)! Balkman, 28, was born and raised in Staten Island, NY but his heritage lies in Puerto Rico! Check out the choking incident on video below!
