“It’s a major loss to what we’re trying to do,’’ coach Mike Woodson said. “We’re going to have to wait on him and continue on. We can’t sit and sulk and feel sad. Guys got to step up and play.’’

“He had some swelling and some soreness and he asked for an MRI,’’ Woodson said.

“I feel for Amar’e as a young man,’’ Woodson said. “He put a lot of work in this summer to get back on the court this summer. then what he went through at the start of training camp. Now he’s got to go back in again. I feel for him. But we have to go on. The whole beauty of our team is depth but you don’t expect a key guy like that to continue to go down because he’s a big piece to the puzzle.’’ – nypost

Saturday night news broke that NY Knicks’ $100 Million man, reliable scorer in the post, Amare Stoudemire AKA Stat will be out six weeks with knee surgery! It is the second time in four months that Stat will have knee debridement surgery, this time for his right knee! He tried to obey the doctor’s orders (of playing under 30 minutes a game), but the knees just couldn’t hold up! It is unfortunate, as Stat was been showing those Hakeem “The Dream” post moves lately and lifting the NY Knicks with his scoring prowess, and length on the boards! Although unaccredited, Stat has also stepped up his D this season! On a positive, Stat should be back just in time for the Playoffs! Plus, read more below… on the Knicks dominating win over the Jazz last night!

J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert, and Kenyon Martin emerged in the absence of Stat and Melo on Saturday night.
