New Game Reviews: How They’ll Work

The door has been opened on big new releases this year, we’ll have reviews for some of the more popular titles over the course of the year but as a point of reference I’d like to explain our review scale so the numbers aren’t just numbers. Remember that the meat of the review is in the actual text a number by itself will never tell the whole story. Reviews in general are a personal opinion so it’s fine to disagree with anything, we just hope to provide a guideline.

We’ll be using a 10 point scale with 1 being the lowest and 10 the highest (Duh). I’ll explain what each score represents in a general way.

10 -Perfect –

A game receiving this score has no obvious flaws in any of the areas it explores. The experience is highly enjoyable from start to finish and will likely leave a long lasting impact on the player. Money well spent.

9 – Amazing –

A game receiving this score will have most of the qualities of a perfect 10 but may be lacking in one specific area or several tiny areas that don’t hinder your enjoyment but do affect the overall experience.

8 – Great –

A game receiving this score is a solid and fun experience. There may be a glaring problem in something like the story or a game-play element that will leave a bad taste in your mouth, but otherwise you’ll enjoy the time you spend with it greatly.

7 – Good –

A game receiving this score may be enjoyable but you’ll likely have to push through less enjoyable parts in order to get there.

6 – OK –

A game receiving this score may function as intended but the game-play and story may not be very interesting, or worse, just plain boring.

5 – Mediocre –

A game receiving this score more than being boring may have certain game-play elements that don’t actually work as intended causing unnecessary frustration.

4 – Poor –

A game receiving this score likely has several game-play elements that don’t work as intended causing definite frustration

3 – Bad –

A game receiving this score is possibly broken to the point where you may not actually be able to play it, or playing it makes you frustrated and or angry with life itself

2 – Very Bad –

A game receiving this score is likely unplayable due to glitches, bugs, or errors in the code itself, stay away!

1 – Garbage –

A game receiving this score, shouldn’t really be called a game, but rather a punishment, as the product, if it actually runs at all, will likely grant you nothing but pain and sorrow.

Look forward to our future reviews!
