Ubisoft Announces Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag [Photo]
Off the back of their highly successful Assassin’s Creed 3 (the 5th installment in the series) Ubisoft announced today Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag. AC 4 is set to be released on all the current major consoles with over 60 minutes of exclusive content for the PlayStation 3 version as they did with Assassin’s Creed 3. The cover shows an assassin with a sword, 3 pistols, and a black flag, setting the mood for a pirate theme. The limited details released today say that this will be a prequel to AC 3 featuring Haytham’s Father, (Connor’s grandfather) Edward taking the reins as the protagonist of this game.
The first Assassin’s Creed debuted in 2007 with Altair roaming the streets of Jerusalem, Acre, and Damascus in a stealth and parkour filled open world. It was followed by Assassin’s Creed 2, a beautiful masterpiece following Ezio in historic Italy. Ezio continued the acrobatics but was upgraded with various killing devices with the help of Leonardo de Vinci. The next two installments Brotherhood and Revelations continued Ezio’s story which was then passed down to a young Native American Connor during America’s revolutionary war in Assassin’s Creed 3. Ubisoft decided to go a different direction with a direct numbered sequel with AC 4 as oppose to sub games like they did with Brotherhood and Revelations.
Assassin’s Creed seems to always add something with every installment from multiplayer to unique battle sequences and even hunting in AC 3. This progressive innovation coupled with the stunning visual world that Assassin’s Creed is known for leads us to think this will be one of the dopest games for 2014. The release said nothing about PlayStation 4, which is surprising for a major PlayStation release such as this. The full details will be released via an Ubisoft trailer on their Facebook page on March 4th, we’ll keep on it and keep you guys updated.
