Time ran out for the NY Jets, as they were “shopping” for San Francisco 49ers’ back-up quarterback (w/ a lot of upside) Alex Smith! According to Jay Glazer from Foxsports (tweet above), the Niners traded Smith to the Kansas City Chiefs for a second-round pick in this year’s draft, and a mid-round pick in the 2014 draft! The trade will not be made official until March 12! The Jets just couldn’t afford Smith; he is under contract for $8.5 Million for 2013! Smith, 28, was leading the Niners’ to a 7-2 record before suffering a concussion in Week 10! Colin Kaepernick replaced Smith, and filled his slack then some, so when Smith was ready he couldn’t get back in the game! The Niner’s did ride all the way to the Super Bowl, so they are confident in their new starting quarterback!
