A-Rod OK for Upcoming Yankee Movie ‘Henry & Me’

“I think it doesn’t matter,” Steinbrenner, the Yankees’ co-chairperson with his brother, told The Post. “The move is about a child with cancer and his love of the Yankees. Everybody else is in it, too, Ruth and Gehrig and everybody else, so it’s really a small part of it.

“The focus really needs to be on what the movie is about. It’s really sad at the beginning and luckily a happy ending. It’s not about whether Alex is in it or not. Maybe it is to the baseball press, but it’s not going to be to anybody else.”

Said Negron: “This is my tribute to The Boss and the Steinbrenner family and [team president] Randy Levine for all the things they’ve done for me.”

“Alex hit a lot of big home runs for us in ’09,” Hank Steinbrenner said. “Realism-wise, it’s fine.”

“We could change it,” Avallone said. “Give me another million, give me another year, we could change it. We don’t have a million. We don’t have a year. And you know what? It’s really bigger than Alex. It’s about giving back. It’s about the children.”

“At the end of the day, what, am I supposed to turn our back on him?” Avallone added. “I don’t believe in that. I think [if] you stand with people, you stand with them. … You wouldn’t want me as your friend if I was going to run from you every time you got into a little bit of trouble. Running away, to me, is cowardice.” – nypost

Manny Ramirez signs with Taiwanese team?!

Hal and Hank Steinbrenner and Reggie Jackson ok’ed A-Rod’s part in the upcoming movie titled, “Henry and Me!” The film has been in production since 2011, and will finally be released on May 15! The movie serves as homage to Yankees history, surrounding a young boy Henry who has cancer! A-Rod serves as an inspiration to young Henry, as he hits a homerun in honor of the young lad! The controversy arose about A-Rod’s character following a media frenzy after recent and repeated (Biogenesis) steroid allegations against the former Yankee superstar! Hank and Hal Steinborner and Reggie gave A-Rod the ok (quote above)! A-Rod actually donated the $1,500 he made for the voiceovers from the movie to charity back in 2009!

The movie truely evokes the spirit of 2009 Champion Yankees with the likes of A-Rod, C.C. Sabathia, Mariano Rivera, Mark Teixeira, Nick Swisher, manager Joe Girardi, GM Brian Cashman, and Jorge Posada doing parts in the movie! Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Reggie Jackson, Yogi Berra, Bernie Williams, and other old time greats are still a major part of the movie!

In fact, a star studded entourage will do the voice-overs for the legendary characters: Richard Gere as Lou Gehrig, Chazz Palminteri as Babe Ruth, and singer Paul Simon as Thurman Munson! The movie was produced by Joseph Avallone and Joe Castellano, directed by Barrett Esposito, and inspired by Ray Negron who wrote Yankees cartoon centric children’s books for many years! Part of the proceeds for the movie will go to charity; $2 of every DVD or download will be divided amongst charities of the film’s actors! Check out the trailer below!
