Nets Set to Trade for Josh Smith?!

Josh Smith

The two teams are engaged in discussions, but one source said while “there has been lots of talk, nothing is close yet.”

ESPN.com’s Marc Stein reported Saturday that the Hawks want a young center in return for Smith.

Smith will become a free agent this summer, and Atlanta is deciding whether to trade him before the deadline. One source close to the situation estimated there is a 60 percent chance the Hawks will move him.

If the Hawks don’t trade Smith, they risk losing him for nothing as a free agent. Atlanta could re-sign Smith, but he wants close to maximum-salary money, if not the max. – espn

Preview: Nets to take on the Pacers tonight [Video]

The Brooklyn Nets are looking to trade for Atlanta Hawks Josh Smith in exchange for Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks, and possibly a first round pick?! If that offer doesn’t cut it for the Hawks, the Nets will try to bring a third team in the deal! The Nets are also looking into a second (back-up) option of a possible trade of Kris Humphries to the Charlotte Bobcats for Ben Gordon! The Hawks are 60% certain they want to trade Smith before the deadline, because otherwise teams can pick him up of the free-agency market in August for nothing! Time is ticking, as the free-agency deadline is February 21; only 10 days away! If the Nets land Smith it will reunite Joe Johnson with his former teammate! Read more above!
