‘The Big Tuna’ Gets HOF Nod!

2012 Hall of Fame inductee RB Curtis Martin stands with Bill Parcells.

“It’s beyond comprehension, really,’’ Parcells said last night. “It’s just unbelievable.’’

“When you start in this business, you’re not aspiring to do anything but really trying to win games and keep your job,’’ Parcells said from his home in Jupiter, Fla. “Then, after a while, your aspirations change to try and win divisions and win playoff games, and after that, to the championship level if you can get there. You know, when it’s all over with like it has been for me for a few years, and your name is mentioned, you obviously think about it some.

“I’m just appreciative of everything and it’s really a tribute to the players that I had that worked hard and played hard … and who had a better coaching staff than I did? I mean, nobody has had the kind of guys that I had. I’m lucky in that respect.’’ – nypost

Giants legend LT: Strahan not getting selected to Hall is ‘perplexing’, Deserving honor for coaching legend comes year too late

Bill Parcells AKA “The Big Tuna” finally got his HOF call on Saturday night! The former NY Giants coach from 1983-1990 made the miracle happen and took the Giants to their first ever Championship (since 1956) in Super Bowl XXI in 1986 and later again in Super Bowl XXV in 1990! Parcells is also the only coach to bring four different teams to the Playoffs! Parcells actually got his nickname “The Big Tuna” after a team joke about his physique during his tenure as linebacker coach with the New England Patriots in 1980! Parcells later coached the New England Patriots (1993-96), the NY Jets (1996-99), and the Dallas Cowboys (2003-07)! For Parcells it was his second time on the ballot! Former Giant Michael Strahan didn’t make the HOF on his first attempt!
