On Thursday afternoon, the New Orleans Hornets officially became the New Orleans Pelicans and took the blue, gold and red colors from the City of New Orleans Flag! Check out the official logo and the statement the team released above! The new jerseys are still in the works, so keep checking for the update!
On Thursday evening, Bobcats Sports & Entertainment President & COO Fred Whitfield released a statement today after the announcement was made.
“We are aware of the impending change regarding the team nickname in New Orleans,” Whitfield said. “We are currently in contact with the NBA and conducting our own due diligence relative to this matter. We will not have any further comment until we have completed this process.” – wbtv
The Charlotte Bobcats, which is part-owned by MJ, are interested in changing their back to the Hornets, but still waiting for approval; check out the statement above!
