”I know as much as you do,” Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn said when asked about the situation. ”If it’s true, ain’t it cool?” – yahoosports
The Seattle Supersonics gave up their squad (w/ Kevin Durant) in 2008 with Oklahoma City offering a better and bigger arena and area prospects! Well now the time has come for the return of the Seattle… Kings?! Investor Chris Hansen (from the Seattle), a San Francisco based-investor, has been talking with the Sacramento Kings owners, the Maloof Bros., about possibly buying the team and bringing them back to Seattle! Although, the Maloof Bros. repeatedly deny interest in selling the team, for the right price it is a possibility! In fact, the Kings could sell for over $500 Million! Hansen wants to bring the Supersonics back to Seattle, and probably will; whether or not they keep the same name is still up in the air!
Hansen already reached an agreement with local the Seattle government last October for the proposal for a $490 million arena near the city’s other stadiums, CenturyLink Field and Safeco Field. There was a condition that construction wouldn’t begin until all environmental reviews are completed and a team has been secured. $290 Million (from the Hansen Investment Group) would cover expenses for building the new arena, parking and an improved transportation system for the local area, and the other $200 Million would be public financing to be paid back with rent money and admissions taxes from the arena. The new arena would also be set up for a future NHL franchise.
