ESPN ‘First Take’ Host in Hot Seat After Marked RG3 Comment!
“Following yesterday’s comments, Rob Parker has been suspended until further notice. We are conducting a full review,” ESPN PR head Josh Krulewitz wrote on Twitter.
ESPN host Rob Parker said, “RG3 is kind of black” and “Is he a brother or is he a cornball brother?”
“I am an African-American in America. That will never change. But I don’t have to be defined by that,” Griffin said this week to USA Today. – nypost
ESPN “First Take” host, Rob Parker, is in the hot seat, suspended indefinitely, for passing marked comments toward Washington Redskins’ phenom rookie QB Robert Griffin III AKA RG3 last night! He broke face on Thursday’s show saying RG3 is “kind of black” and “is he a brother or is he a cornball brother?” ESPN suspended him a day later. Parker felt that RG3 was a white-wash because RG3 has a white fiance, shows Republican views, and said a comment to USA Today earlier this week that could be interpreted differently (read the comment above). Parker, a former NY Columnist, lost sight of the fact that when you are broadcast live on TV or the radio, or any media medium you must be very racially sensitive.
