Kobe Hits 30,000 Points!

“It’s pretty awesome,” Bryant said. “These are players I respect tremendously  and obviously grew up idolizing and watching and learned a great deal from.”

Coincidentally, the team that drafted Kobe Bryant in 1996, the Charlotte Hornets, is the same team (New Orleans Hornets) he hit the 30,000 point milestone against last night.

“It’s funny how sports always seems to kind of have that connectivity, in some shape, form or fashion,” Bryant said. “It just always seems to come full  circle.” – nydailynews

Kobe Bryant became the youngest player (and fifth player) ever to reach 30,000 points! Kobe scored 29 points, as the LA Lakers beat the New Orleans Hornets, 103-87 last night! Kobe was 34 years 104 days old when he hit the dramatic slashing lay-up in the second quarter to give him 30,001 career points! He joined the likes of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain on the 30K career scoring list! Kobe was drafted straight out of Lower Merion high school (Ardmore, PA) by the Charlotte Hornets (traded to the Lakers) in the 1996 NBA Draft (first round – 13th pick).
