Brooklyn Delivers Boston A Beat-Down! [Video] [Photo]
Just before halftime with Boston trailing by 16, Rondo took exception to a foul Humphries committed on Kevin Garnett. Rondo then shoved the Nets forward under the basket and Humphries reciprocated, prompting Rondo to charge through the lane with hands flying. Humphries muffled the shoves by grabbing hold of Rondo, but a punch connected on the top of his head as bodies flew into the stands. Humphries, eight inches taller and 50 pounds heavier than his attacker, eventually pulled Rondo’s jersey over his head, leaving the All-Star in his undershirt.
On the outskirts of the melee, Gerald Wallace and Garnett wrestled to a stalemate. Other players and security guards tried to break up the fight, and one referee was thrown to the ground. No players left the bench, which would have resulted in automatic suspensions. – nydailynews
The Brooklyn Nets delivered a beat-down on the Boston Celtics, reflected in the score (95-83) and on the floor (Rondo-Humphries Brawl) last night! Celtics’ Rajon Rondo was ejected for (physically) initiating a brawl with Nets’ Kris Humphries, and it cost him his consecutive games with double-digit assists streak! Rondo left the game with three assists, which stopped his consecutive games with double-digit assists (37) streak, and now will have to settle for second all-time behind Magic Johnson (46)! Also, Rondo will be served a 3-5 game suspension for inciting the melee!
