Cabrera, Posey Win the MVP Award!

MLB Triple Crown winner and now MVP Award winner points to the sky after smashing a homerun.

“I don’t believe it. I’m very excited,” Cabrera said. “I’m like, I don’t have any words to explain how excited I am right now. I never expect I’m going to win, because Mike Trout had an unbelievable season. I’m very surprised.” – nypost

NY Yankees to be subject of new play

Detroit Tigers’ (Triple Crown Winner) 3B Miguel Cabrera, and MLB Champion SF Giants’ Buster Posey won the MVP Award, last night! Cabrera became the first player since Carl Yastrzemski in 1967 to win the MLB Triple Crown batting .330 with 44 HRs and 138 RBIs! He easily won the AL MVP Award capturing 22 of 28 first-place votes on ballots cast by members of the Baseball Writers Association of America! Cabrera also helped the Tigers get to the World Series beating the NY Yankees along the way!

Buster Posey celebrated the SF Giants Championship in the parade that followed.

“I think it’s an accomplishment that’s shared with the whole Giants organization,” said Posey, who helped defeat Cabrera’s Giants in the World Series. “It starts at the top with the great ownership and front office putting great guys on the field.” – nypost

San Francisco Giants’ Buster Posey became only the third catcher to get the NL MVP Award! Former Yankee Thurman Munson (1976) and Cincinnati Reds’ Johnny Bench (1972) are the other two catchers to receive the award! Posey received 27 of 32 first-place votes to win the award. Posey led the league in batting with a .336 average; the second catcher ever to accomplish that feat (Ernie Lombardi did it twice)! He also drove in 103 runs, hit 24 home runs and caught Matt Cain’s perfect game. Posey also single-handedly helped the Giants win the World Series over the Detroit Tigers!
