NY Giants help out with Sandy!
“The New York metropolitan area sustained extensive and devastating damage to its infrastructure in Hurricane Sandy,” Giants owners John Mara and Steve Tisch said in a joint statement. “The Giants want to do everything we can to assist our neighbors, fans and friends. Toward that end, after careful consideration, we have decided to make donations to these two very worthy funds. We are in this for the long haul and will continue to assist relief efforts in our hard-hit region.” – nypost
The NY Giants went down to Jersey shore, Staten Island, and New Jersey food banks on Tuesday to give a helping hand! Eli Manning went to S.I. to help with American Red Cross; the same organization he (and Osi Umenyiora) did PSA’s earlier in the week. Players like Justin Tuck, Prince Amukamara, Domenik Hixon, Lawrence Tynes, and others got in the mix! The Giants also donated $500K (spilt evenly) to two major relief organizations: Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund and the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City! On Sunday’s home game against the Steelers, Giants’ fans donated 38,405 pounds of food and $18,723! It was the most successful annual food drive at MetLife Stadium ever, and of course all proceeds go to victims of Sandy!
Fans wishing to donate to the American Red Cross can text Red Cross to 9-0-9-9-9 to donate $10. They can also call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
