Barclays to host ‘Super’ Golden Boy Bout!

“Our goal was that the Barclays Center will be bigger than basketball,” Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark said. “Boxing, college sports, family shows and of course the Brooklyn Nets as the headliner, and that’s what we’re doing. We plan to be a big-time player in the boxing world, no question about it.” – espn

Oscar De La Hoya stays retired

The Brooklyn Nets new building, the Barclays Center, will kick off with a Jay-Z concert on Sept. 28th! Basketball will be the main feature, but boxing will take the main stage with a Unified Super Lightweight World Championship bout: Danny Garcia vs. Erik Morales Part II on Oct. 20th! Barclays and Golden Boy Promotions (Oscar De La Hoya) partnered up (and will in the future) to showcase boxing top talents in the new arena. Barclays wants to bring a boxing appeal to the Center, and give back to Brooklyn! Buy tickets right here or through ticketmaster.com!

The main event will feature unbeaten Danny “Swift” Garcia defending his WBA Super, WBC & Ring Magazine Super Lightweight World Championships against the man he defeated to win the WBC belt, legendary Mexican warrior and future Hall of Famer Erik “El Terrible” Morales. In the co-featured bout, Brooklyn’s own Paulie “Magic Man” Malignaggi risks his WBA Welterweight World Championship against hard-hitting Pablo Cesar “El Demoledor” Cano. – barclayscenter
