Ichiro comes to NY! Yankees win Debut!

“When I spent time during the All-Star break to think, I realized that this team has many players in their early 20s,” Ichiro said through a translator. “I began to think I should not be on this team next year. I also started to feel a desire to be in an atmosphere that I could have a different kind of stimulation than I have right now.” – espn

The NY Yankees traded two minor league pitching prospects to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for 10-time All-Star (+ gold glover) Ichiro Suzuki! #Ichiro is one of very few players to get over 200 hits and over .300 batting average for the first 10 seasons of his career. #Ichiro was in the last year of a five-year contract worth $90 Million; the #Yankees will only have to pay $2.2 Million of roughly $7 Million owed to #Ichiro! #Ichiro is 38 years old, and his numbers have slipped this season; he is only batting .261 with a .288 on-base percentage and a .353 slugging percentage. #Ichiro requested the trade to #NY, so he could have a chance at a Championship before he retires. The trade excited the #Japanese fans!

#IchiroDebut Ichiro scorched a single in his first-at-bat (and stole second base) as a #Yankee, last night! It would suggest a sign of good things to come, as the #Yankees snapped a four-game losing streak at the same time. #Ichiro went 1-4 in his #debut, and the #Yankees went on to win 4-1 over the Seattle Mariners!

Hiroki Kuroda (picture above) pitched a gem, giving up only three hits, one earned run and one walk; while striking out nine batters in seven innings pitched. #Kuroda got his 10th win (10-7), and improved his ERA to (3.34)! Rafael Soriano got his 25th save, and #ARod hit a bullet over the fence (in the eighth inning) for his 15th HR of the season!

“Shea Stadium I always went to,” Snooki said.

“I really, really loved the Mets and was obsessed in the early 2000s, when we had Valentine,” she said. “So I loved [John] Franco and Robin Ventura. All of them. I was like obsessed.”

“I always think they have a chance,” Snooki said. “I feel like that’s the Mets fans — they always believe that they’re going to turn it around and do good. And sometimes they don’t. But I’ll still be a Mets fan no matter what.” – espn

#Snooki was at the #Mets game, last night! She took a picture with 3B David Wright, and talked about her lifelong love of the NY Mets!
