Falcons vs. Giants Wild-Card Playoff Preview

@SportsBata ..nuff said

The Atlanta Falcons will take on the NFC East Champion NY Giants on Sunday January 8 1PM EST FOX! The Giants have been on fire in recent weeks defeating the Dallas Cowboys twice, and demolishing the cross-town NY Jets! The Giants D has come up big with the emergence of second year DE Jason Paul-Pierre, and the offense has been fully loaded with top gun QB Eli Manning and the record breaking WR Victor Cruz. Cruz broke three franchise records with the Giants this year. Giants DE Justin Tuck called the Falcons “dirtbags”, and got a “positive” reaction from that. Falcons star WR Roddy White gave Giants WR Victor Cruz props in a side ways. Check out the commentary!

Tuck calls Falcons “dirtbags”:

“We know they have that quote unquote reputation,” Tuck said when asked on Monday about the reputation of Atlanta’s offensive line. The Falcons have drawn criticism from opposing teams this season for supposedly playing dirty and playing beyond the whistle.

“But in a way it kind of is exciting. Most people, you would call them dirtbags,” Tuck said. “But it is what it is. We got to make sure we do our job and if we are doing our job well, then they will be upset and they will be trying to do things to get us off our game and we got to take that as a compliment. But in the same sense you got to protect yourself and hopefully the referees have 20/20 vision this week.” – espn

Falcons respond to Tuck’s comments:

Falcons left tackle Will Svitek said the Falcons’ line prides itself on its physical style of play.

“If (Tuck) views us as cheap, then so be it. We’re going to do what we do. We take pride in being physical. You don’t want to be viewed as soft. We’re always going to be there, and we want them to know we’re there.” – espn

Falcons WR Roddy White taps in Giants WR Victor Cruz:

Falcons wide receiver Roddy White says Victor Cruz could be in for a “rude awakening.”

Not Sunday, when the teams meet in the NFC wild-card playoffs, but next year, when teams start to game plan for Cruz after his breakout season. White would know, based on his own experience.

But White also added, “Anytime you put up those kind of numbers, he’s going to be in for a really good pay day. But he deserves it. Any guy that goes out there and puts up 1,500 yards, that’s remarkable. It’s one of the nicest seasons you can have. I think the Giants should pay him. I’m a Victor Cruz fan. I think they should pay him.”

White, who set the Falcons’ all-time receiving mark while Cruz set the Giants’ single-season standard this year, even likes Cruz’s salsa celebration, which was mocked by the Cowboys’ Laurent Robinson last week.

“Yeah, I’ve seen it a couple of times,” White said. “It’s a pretty nice dance. It’s elegant.” – nydailynews
